About

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

“If your nice to me, I’ll be nice to you, otherwise stop bothering me and steal my time -Daniel Hjelmtorp

“The more blog post I compose, the more blogpost I WANT to compose” -Daniel Hjelmtorp

The name of this 27 year old Swedish man is Daniel Hjelmtorp. Borned in the capital of Sweden, Stockholm, with roots from Denmark and in the north of Sweden. My home is in Täby, Stockholm where I currently live.

Right now I work as Parter & Product Manager at GamersGate here in Stockholm. But I have a vision to sometime in my carrier work in another country. Where and with what I’m not sure about, but time and life will show me eventually.

  • Consoles: Playstation3, Wii, PC, Super Nintendo and Nintendo DS
  • Games: Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, Kingdom Hearts

  • Interests: Videogames, movies, music, exercise, cooking and reading.

Visions in life:

  • Work in the computer- and videogame industry.
  • Live a life of happiness and prosperity.
  • Have worked outside of Sweden.

My biggest passion is computer- and videogames, a lifelong intereset and hobby that I want to work with. The area of the game industry that speaks to me is marketing and business. I try to read everything about the subject from books, reports and news. And I write about it in my blog and for the Swedish Marketing Associations publication, Tendens Special that is distributed to all who works with marketing in Sweden. The subject for my final exam paper was how to market through games.

Beside games I’m really fascinated by technology and how new mediums like the internet help change business and reshape society. About new business models and marketing trends in the digital space, especially in connection with videogames. For me its essential to be at the forefront of the digital evolution and development. To be up to date with the latest news from the videogame industry and digital space, but also business theories from different areas.

Another important thing in my life is music. Its like a part of me form the beginning, probably in the genes from my father who’s a big music freak and been working in the music industry his whole life. In early years I attended various concerts and music festivals. As a big consumer of music, and the ability to find new music within my taste, some of my friends wonders when I will start working in the music business, which I find really funny.

About the Blog

I started blogging in February of 2007, when I created the first “version” of this blog. At first I used the free blog tool Blogger, just to get it started. I called the blog Pixelekonomi, and tried to just stick to blogging about games, but then I started writing about my other interests and in a more relaxed way.

After a few month I started reading about Search Engine Marketing, and about owning your own content. I had bought my own domain, Soulvision.se and transferred all the content of my blog to this address. At the same time I had bought a domain for the family, Hjelmtorp.com. I wanted a good URL, so I created a subdomain at Hjelmtorp.com; daniel.hjelmtorp.com, and linked to this URL. Still there was a problem, a the content was requested from soulvision.se, not the same domain as the URL. Once again I have transferred all content from Soulvision.se to Hjelmtorp.com.

Initially I wrote in Swedish, but in October 2007 I decided to change direction and write in English, both to react a bigger audience and to improve my English.
